This drawing was inspired by the discovery of the bust of Nefertiti, which took place on December 6, 1912. The discovery was made at Tell el-Amarna, Egypt, by German archaeologist Ludwig Borchardt during an expedition led by the German Archaeological Mission. The piece became one of the most famous works of art from Ancient Egypt.
