This drawing is inspired by the Hope Diamond, also known as the "Blue Crown Diamond," which was stolen from the Tuileries Palace in Paris on September 11, 1792, during the French Revolution. This 45.52-carat diamond, originally part of the French crown, represented the loss of wealth and power of the monarchy and aristocracy amid political turmoil.
